Step-by-step instructions
Step 1
Measure the closet depth and door swing, then locate studs and confirm the cabinet will not block a dryer vent or service access.
Step 2
Build a shallow cabinet box and reinforce the mounting rail for the combined cabinet and board load.
Step 3
Install a rated ironing-board hinge and a heat-resistant board cover; add a positive latch for travel.
Step 4
Mount the cabinet into framing or an engineered support, not only drywall anchors.
Step 5
Test the board open and closed, keep the iron cord away from hinges, and store the iron only when cool.
Mount to framing or engineered blocking, keep hot appliances away from combustible materials, and never store a hot iron inside the cabinet.
