Step-by-step instructions
Step 1
Choose height, width, depth, and shelf spacing from the books and room, then limit shelf spans to control sag.
Step 2
Create a cut list for sides, top, bottom, shelves, toe kick, and back using actual material thickness.
Step 3
Cut and label parts, drill shelf locations with a repeatable jig, and dry-fit the case square.
Step 4
Glue and fasten the case, then install the back panel to lock the assembly square.
Step 5
Ease edges, finish all visible surfaces, and allow full cure before loading.
Step 6
Level the bookcase and attach the anti-tip system to verified wall framing before adding books, keeping heavy volumes low.
Bookcases can tip and loaded shelves are heavy. Anchor the unit to sound framing, verify utilities before drilling, and do not exceed shelf spans or hardware ratings.
